My first hatch was my very best, beginners luck.
The next the sorriest
I realized late the temp had been way too low and the calibration on my genesis had somehow gotten off and was not showing right. Now I use a mercury thermometer to calibrate it and set it acc. before I ever set the eggs. Right now I have it set on 100.2 and it is holding it at 99.8 Sometimes a bit higher but never lower. which seems about right for my eggs. I found out because the eggs that had hatched were two days late, and only 10 percent hatched
. Wow! that was a shocker on very expensive eggs. Now I set it up two days in advance and get the hum. and temp really stable. Lesson learned. Also never put the incubator in a sunny spot or a spot near a vent or breeze. common sense yes, but not always thought about when we are excited about our babies to be. Not a closed closet either. They need O2 to breathe. What made me order Fav. They are said to be gentle, good layers and are beautiful to boot.
