July Hatch-a-long

ok I have an update for everyone...... this is what I have going on right now.......

ok we all remember the eggs I got from a friend that were already developing right???? well...... 3 of those hatched yesterday. and I have 2 left in the hatcher.

on June 24th I set 14 eggs due to hatch on July 15th. out of 14 I had to toss 7 for different reasons. so we have 7 left.

on June 28th I set 5 eggs due to hatch on July 19th.

on July July 1st I set 20 eggs due to hatch July 22nd.

and that's all for the moment.

Keep that humidity up.  you do not want them to get stuck in there. Other than that there is nothing else at this point you can do.  Good luck.
Thank you:) the humidity is at 68% and 100 degrees. The incubator says 55% to 65% humidity for hatching ( HavoBator 1588). Do you think I'm ok on humidity?

Just went to check my broody and she has three chicks :weee She'll have more by nightfall, probably. So excited to watch her with them!

right now I'm incubating at around 50% and plan to go up to 70-75% for hatching. I'm not sure if this is the right way as I'm about to roll into day 3 t-minus 35 minutes... I think humidity depends on the elevation you're in.

Keep that humidity up just at the top range if possible. I have a hovabator too. For further hatching watch the temp on them. Mine dropped and did not hatch on time and I found the temp was off. I had to set it hotter than they suggested at 100.2 to get it to stay at 99.8 or 99.9 all the time. I have one of the newer ones( digital type). The tray for humidity was a boner too. I had to fill tray 2 instead of one for the reg time and then tray 1 and 2 for the hatch. Weired. Oh well they all are different. It does hold well. Good luck.

16 d'uccle eggs in to the incubator back in June (forgot exact date). Candled last night and this morning I pulled 6 out that didn't look like they were developing (no darkness in the egg). Cracked them open and the yolks just poured out. Only one had evidence of development but it wasn't anywhere near 10 days old so it had quit early. These are eggs that came from my own flock so no scrambling by Post Office. Do incubated eggs get liquidy like that? Never noticed a problem with yolks when cooking/frying before.

That leaves 10 to continue till lockdown (I won't candle again). I'm doing dry incubation with humidity levels around 20-22% with new sponges ready to go to up the humidity next week.
