July Hatch-a-long

What day are you? Poor little guy who knows though maybe he'll make it,
Sometimes there are some slow guys to hatch  just need time.
Strange about the perfect but non pipped eggs isnt it? Humm wonder what  happened? What breed? Some I have  read  go to the end and die  before hatch Cant think of the breed though
How many  chix have you had hatch so far?GOOD LUCK on yours still- alive- but- haven't- hatched. Slow pokes!

The early bird is still alive, just laying in the incubator sleeping. I don't know about those dead chicks, that's never happened before. They usually at least pip :/
They're Silkies, and I've always had a difficult time hatching their eggs. They hatch just fine under my broodies though, so I don't think its an issue with my breeders or anything. There are 4 chicks out so far, including the iffy one. The eggs will be on day 23 at about 4:45 pm today. So, they aren't super late. The only reason I checked them is because there was a TON of taping coming from them last night and then nothing this morning. Not a wiggle or peep. Oh well, I think I'll just let the hens handle the hatching unless I'm desperate....or get a better incubator. My thermometer may have been off, too. I calibrated it before I started, but I dropped it on the floor a couple of tines along the way. Always something :barnie

What is he? Looks like silver with black on  wings!! LOVE IT!

I have 2 of them, one hatched out of a so-called Rhode Island Red (prob red sex link) & the other hatched from my black sex link! The dad was a blue/black marans x

So I went into lockdown yesterday. Day 19 is the worst day of incubation in my opinion, because while you know something could happen, it probably won't. They just sit there, and if you're lucky, you might glimpse a wobble.

I started with 7 OE eggs, and still have 7 OE eggs. 6 had definite movement, and the 7th is the double yolk egg. I think I saw one chick moving on day 18, but it's hard to say. It's very unlikely to hatch, but I thought, what the heck, no point in taking it out of the incubator now. So I'm excited for this weekend. I'm excited to see what these chicks will look like!

okay so I'm for sure in on the aug hatch....I bought some eggs from our hatching buddy roxannemc and I also will be setting some more cochin bantam frizzle eggs...plus I have 2 hens on eggs...one of the hens is on several guinea eggs so when it's getting close for the chicken eggs I'll put them in the incubator and let her hatch and raise the guinea's!!

I have dwarf call ducks in ready to hatch in the next few days...at 4 30 this morning I candled and most of them were internally pipped one has pipped it's shell and at least 2 are rocking!!

Day 23 (again) and I have 1 chick hatched since pipping early this morning and 2 more pips. The 4th egg probably won't hatch -- it just doesn't look right (candle) inside. The hatched Marans chick has a prominent comb ALREADY. I'm thinking that one is a boy. His siblings hatched under the broody on Sunday/Monday, and the incubator was one day behind the broody.

I also noticed that when I handled the broody eggs, they felt warmer to the touch than the eggs in the incubator. Hmmm. Probably a connection there, ya think?

funny...my husband loves the flock...I asked for a new coop (an additional coop) anyhoo he built me one just this week!! in the texas heat...now I have at least a dozen dwarf and tiny ducks ready to hatch...I said I may need a duck coop...he said NO they'll share! lol
they can share...if there's room

These are the 3 that hatched in the incubator. I posted Marlena and her 3 a couple of days ago, and the bator babies came today.

First hatched. Obviously dad wasn't a black or blue copper Marans ;-)
She told me they wouldn't all be purebred, and daddy is either a Buff Orp or a Cream Legbar. This one has a clear gold in his/her fluff.

2nd hatched This one appears to be a blue copper Marans like its mom (it came from a very dark brown egg so she was a black copper)

Last hatched. Smaller than the others (but from a larger egg -- go figure).
The color is darker than the other Marans chick.

This was day 23. I thought they were alive, but until I saw the pips this morning, I didn't have any confidence. Between my broody Marlena and me, we hatched 6 healthy babies. Now I need to graft my 3 to her little brood.
