July Hatch-A-Long

Jen, with my shipped eggs I didn't see veins until day 7. So don't worry! Give it a few days, you might find yourself surprised. :3

:( I don't think I will do shipped eggs again. Doesn't even look like anything in the incubator is developing. I bet they are scrambled. I could cry.
I should see veins by day 4 right? -of course I won't give up on them.
Anyone have luck ordering live babies from cackle hatchery?

I put some eggs from my new layers in my incubator and didn't see anything at day 4. I figured they weren't fertile. I candled again at 8 days and could definitely see development then. Don't worry about it yet. It's hard enough to see anything at day 4 even with non-shipped, light colored eggs.

Thanks. This group is so great. I needed that

You're welcome! I love this community. If not for you guys I'd have lost my mind a looong time ago!

Good luck to you too!

It's my first incubator hatch, so great you can watch the whole process.
I would love to have ducks, they are even cute as adults. The way they walk!

Good luck to you too... I love that we are half a world away and hatching at the same time : )

My ducks are Anconas and I am just dying to have them. I have a broody duck and I am wondering if she will adopt them. My first attempt at incubating turned out differently than I hoped... a lot of experience, but no ducks. I made a lot of changes... mostly with humidity and local eggs instead of shipped and so I am very hopeful. I was wondering how I would sleep tonight but I am so tired from being so excited. I may sleep now and wake in a few hours to check.

You are hatching chickens? What kind?

Mine go into lockdown on Monday. I'm losing sleep...this was the point last year that mine died. I'm really, really nervous. :/
