July Hatch-A-Long

Having good luck with the quail eggs. Despite the temperature spike, 13 have hatched and 12 have survived. I still have 36 eggs in the incubator, so I will give them a few more days.

Sparkle has finally finished her egg hatching stage and is now a proud mother of her 14 new little chickies! I am also very proud of her 'cause it was her first time being broody and she had a 100% hatch rate!

Here she is just three weeks ago when she went broody!

And here she is now with her 14 little puffballs walking around the yard!

She was walking away with her chicks in this pic~! I love the way that newly hatched chicks try to walk but then kind of stumble/hop around!

So 20 of my 33 eggs made it to lock down. The next 5 days are going to be crucial!!! No opening the bator for anything. Going to see if I can get a better hatch rate by being more hands off than before. Here's hoping for a great hatch!

Oh I wish you good hatchlings. Mine have a day and half left to lockdown! Hope we both have good news to report soon.

Cute! Love mommas with little ones. None went broody here. All her own or you give her some?

OMG... I just did it... I couldn't stop myself... I ordered 2 dozen Serama eggs from Castle Delight! They are shipped... I know, I just mentioned how I vowed not to buy shipped eggs... but they are only shipped from a couple hours away so I think it will be okay. I hear she packs her eggs really well. They are my birthday present to myself : ) I am crazy excited! I am just dying to have a flock of Seramas. I may need to check out the incubators anonymous thread though... maybe there is a meeting near me ; )

I'm on day 15 of incubating chicken eggs and the bator spiked to 102.9 today. I'm not sure how long it was that high. Will this affect the chicks in a negative manner?

Well, hopefully it wasn't for too long and the eggs didn't heat up too much! Fortunately you are close to the end so you won't have to wait too long. Did you candle any and see how they are doing?
