July Hatch-A-Long

I just set a bunch of eggs today. 42 to be exact. 18 are Easter Eggers, 3 are Tolbunt Polish, and the rest are Trader Joe's fertile eggs. They're due to hatch July 3rd!

Set my serama eggs. Got 14 in the mail, 6 with detached air cells. I set them upright in egg carton segments in my Brinsea Mini Advance after letting them rest for 24 hours. Seems rather cramped in there... I hope all goes well :fl

I want to join! I have been on these forums so much for the last couple of months, I figured I ought to actually join!

I attempted my first hatch last month and it was an amazing experience, but I learned on here that my humidity was too high 55% (but occasionally higher) because I had 4 perfect ducklings that grew too big too hatch : ( They were shipped eggs too and had some issues there.

It was super sad but I think I have caught the bug because I got some more duck eggs locally and then someone gave me 18 peafowl eggs, so I am excited and nervous to try again. 28 days will be on July 6th, but I hear peafowl can hatch sooner. The peafowl eggs are hard to candle but I am only on day 5 and I can tell something is happening in the ones I looked at. there are so many I will try to candle at just the recommended intervals. The first attempt, I candled often because it was just so amazing to see what was going on it there and I did get so close that I have a bit more confidence this time. I just love seeing other people's hatches and babies that I am really excited about this thread.

@BCollie Does Trader joes seriously have fertile eggs? I guess they would be refrigerated, but might still hatch? I haven't even successfully hatched anything and I'm already obsessed.

Welcome to BYC!! :)

Yep, but not all TJ's have them. I know mine does(obviously). My first attempt at hatching them failed, they all quit near the end of incubation, so I'm trying again...this time with TWO dozen! Lol!

Our Trader Joes doesn't have fertilized eggs. :( I think that would be so cool! I think someone mentioned it was more of a west coast thing?

does anyone know if its ok that a chick is born four days after the first one

ok. SO I set 7 eggs yesterday, the 13th, at about 7:00 PM. they SHOULD hatch the fourth of july, but im thinking im wrong about when I set.

can anyone help me out? I thought if you set, say, the 13th like me, that would be day 0; the starting point. 21 days later there should be chicks? or am I wrong? is the day you set instantly day 1? im SO CONFUSED!

ive hatched chicks 3 other times this year and they all hatched early. 1 day early. AM I SETTING WRONG?

ANYWAYS>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
I set 2 Japanese bantam eggs from my own breeding trio, and 5 jappie eggs from a breeding pair that im starting up a new breed line with. silkie X Japanese bantam. LUCKILY I collected my Japanese eggs Wednesday, went to collect them Thursday, and BOTH HENS WERE BROODY! today thy are broody too.....so if I did set the wrong day I still have a backup for today. LOL
