July Hatch-A-Long

Just popping in for a minute. I thought I was done for the summer, but this morning my youngest son came in and said the duck has gone broody and that she has already pulled feathers and lined her nest. The only thing is, I don't have any fertile eggs to put under her right now. I don't want to discourage her, so hopefully I can find some eggs for her within the next day or two, and then I'll be officially part of the July Hatch-A-Long.

I set 41 guinea eggs on Sunday evening and now we wait 4 long weeks.

When they are done and I give the incubator a one week rest, I'll do some button quail. Instant satisfaction in 16 days!

Just set a dozen burbon red eggs today.

Have a dozen royal palm eggs going to lockdownon sunday.

And have 11 eggs left under a broody narragansett hen that should hatch around the 21st.

My brodies eggs hatched!! Yay....... There are 8!!!

Awesome!!! I am dying to see babies!!

I go into lockdown in 2 days : ) I have 9 peafowl looking good... with one backwards in the shell. 6 Ancona ducklings looking perfect and 8 Serama eggs under my broody... one is farther ahead, I have no idea if it will hatch but the other 7 look really good. I took out the 2 Silkie eggs today because they were clear : ( I'll have to try again on those... I would like to have some resident broodies!

Lock down today for 10! 14 under the broody for Sunday hatch...and a bator full for next week!!!!

I have two external pips!!! It's barely day 19 (2 AM), so I wasn't expecting anything. I shrieked and woke up my boyfriend up and was eagerly showing him the little shell bits.... but I don't think it was as exciting to him LOL. He just went back to sleep and muttered "Not worth it" (I freaked him out a bit when I shrieked =/)

My Broody is still sitting on 8 Dark Brown eggs, I was expecting today. Can't candle them so going to let them sit a bit longer.
Another hen started to go broody tonight, going to watch to see if she is serious! And then find some eggs for her. Also traded 3 chicks to a friend to incubate 12 eggs for me! So, hopefully, I will be getting some chicks in July!!!
