July Hatch-A-Long

Mine were suposed to hatch on the 28th. Yesterday morning I go to check humidity to up it for hatching and there and behold was one out already! Just got home from Worship/potluck and see a pip in another shell! So they start early.

But I hear others talk about rocking eggs.... don't see any of that. Praying for the others to hatch. These are my Heritage RIR.

Well, I stopped turning today and went into lockdown. Of the 42 eggs set, 37 made it to lockdown! AND each and every chick in those eggs was moving around

It seems that these eggs are hardier than I expected and that the fluctuating temps in my bator this week haven't killed them

Now to make sure I don't open up the incubator until everyone is done hatching.

I have 3 incubators running and about 10 batches of eggs that need to go in lock down all with in a weeks time 0.0 30 barred rocks then a group of 4 Serama and 6 Ameraucanas then another group of 19 barred rocks and a group of 80 Cortunix quail which r already in lock down and another group of 12 buttons that I hada open and put in with the Cortunix in lock down and then a bunch of random Mille fluer d'uccle eggs that goes in lock down on different days some goes in lock down three days in a row and then ill have 2 days off and another group of 3 in a row ;-( I'm still trying to figure out how I'm gonna do this! I have a automatic turner in one incubator and I already know that's gotta come out I sure hope everyone makes it I also have 12 more Serama/frizzle Serama being shipped out tmw and are due to arrive Wednesday right in the middle of my lockdown crisis! I sure hope everyone makes it out of this ok lol I think I gotta little egg crazy! I was given all the barred rock eggs and I couldn't stand the thought of letting perfectly good fertile eggs go to waste so I sit them all and then he gave me anther group a few days later so I sit them as well 0.0 ahh I have close to 200 eggs due all within the next 2 weeks 0.0

Take deep breaths and you, for sure, will be okay and I am pretty sure you are going to have A LOT of chicks! Good luck!

Wow Kristen that will be a handful of chicks to care for!

A second of my 12 finished hatching overnight. It was slow deciding to come on out ,,, just hoping the power outage while I was gone yesterday doesn't effect the rest of the hatch. Nervously awaiting another visible outside piping. :fl

So I have 4 eggs that have hatched

, a couple more pipped and several not doing anything yet. It is killing me not to get the hatched ones out,

but I am trying not to open the bator till they all hatch. How long should I wait. One hatched late Saturday. Will it be okay a little longer?

Of 66 quail eggs set, about 50 made it to lockdown and 15 hatched. Not bad for shipped eggs with a temperature spike in a homemade incubator.

I bought a hovabator w/fan and turner last week and I am really surprised by how well it works. I figured a cheap incubator wouldn't be much better than what I had built myself out of stuff I had laying around the house, but I was wrong. The mercury thermometer hasn't moved a hair since I set 91 eggs 3 days ago.

I have my last July eggs hatching two have externally pipped. One doesn't look good from the outside, can't see a beak it looks like there is some blood or yolk sac on the edge of the pip. There are 4 eggs that I think are good in there, and two which I didn't see any movement inside on last candle, but I wasn't sure enough to throw them away.
