JUNE 1st Hatch: Were locked and hatching!!!!!!!!!!

Candled my last remaining 7 eggs, as nothing was happening
NOT good!!!!
Had to chuck them all

So 10 eggs:
Of which 5 cream legbar
5 buff sussex

Of which 1 of each hatched (1 female CL,1 unknown BS)

Of the rest 1 had an air sack that you had to chase around the shell (Chucked on Day 18)
7 Were runny and showing very little development on Day 22

Not the greatest stats, really

BUT
I have learned an awlul lot, and feel much more confident about trying again. So thank you all for your support!

Questions:
When shipped eggs arrive should they be rattling loose in the styrofoam shipping box? Or should they be snug?

And How long should I expect it to take for Momma to decide that there is no point sitting and to take her babies out for the first time?

And is there a danger to the chicks from eating corn or layers pellets?

Also, Kathy: Are those marbles in your water? To stop the chickies falling in? Any what is in your water to make it that colour?

Last Sunday was day 18, lockdown. I went down again this morning expecting the eggs that had zipped and stopped to be dead. One had hatched!!! I couldn't believe it! Another one I thought for sure was a gonner is breaking more of the shell. So today is day 24 and they are still hatching...

Hermione is gorgeous and so is her baby! My shipped eggs were all packed with bubble wrap inside the poly boxes.

Here are my 5 week olds - first day out today, can't believe how fast they've grown
