June 2015 Hatch A Long HAL

Hi there - my chicks are just hatching today - I have one very active chick who is clambering all over other eggs in the Brinsea Mini Advance (v small incubator so not much room) - I'm worried that it is rolling the eggs and potentially endangering the rest of the hatch... Any advice re moving it to brooder vs leaving it alone???! I posted same question in a new thread - sorry of you see it twice - I'm just new to incubators and not quite sure what to do!

Thanks!

Usually it is fine to leave the first hatcher or hatchers in he incubator to encourage others to hatch, but usually after 24-48 hours remove it to the brooder.

Well... there it is. I managed to force myself to stay in bed this morning and when I finally went out I discovered one hatched chick, black as night and beautiful. Probably female. The second pipped egg now looks like this one did last night and a third egg is pipped like the second one was last night.

The woman who will be receiving most of these chicks is coming by to drop off my son today. I'm so excited to tell her!

I was wrong. The second egg hatched, a third one pipped. I think the first one is dead. I got a closer look and it appears to have a slightly crossed beak. I didn't see any movement. :/ Oh well. The only one I've got my heart set on is the EE.

No progress in the other eggs yet, but that's not saying much. If she was there for four days before I found her, the others might not even start opening their eggs for several days. I'm going to leave her alone and check the progress tomorrow. No pictures until they're all out, sorry ladies!

Lockdown for the 5 bcm eggs, moved from the brinsea to my new diy coolerbator for hatch. Leaving the 4 turkey eggs in the brinsea to complete their incubation.

This is the coolest! My first hatch, shipped Olive eggers. Six made the cut and are due to hatch tomorrow. One has a beak and a few toes out already, another one has started cracking the shell and everyone else is rocking around like crazy. The parents were everything from welsummers and marans (including a splash marans rooster) for the brown genes, to lavender, blue, blue wheaten, black ameraucanas for the blue egg genes. Looking forward to my rainbow of Olives! Can't wait to see what colors they have.

Mine do the same thing too. I always watch for the lull in the hatch then keep the op hovering over it throw out the chick and top off the water reservoir...Best of luck!
