June 2021 Hatch - A - Long

Hello everyone! Joining. I set eggs under my broody last night. If all goes well they should hatch 6-14. Any tips for moving a broody to grow out coop that already has a momma hen and chicks?

Do it at night for best results.

Ugh! You just reminded me that I need to get a new run put up on the main coop. I only moved the broodies into the storage area because the main run fencing has big enough holes to allow chicks through. I’m not moving this girl.

Will she be okay to share the space with a momma hen and chicks? She will be in a crate but Momma and babies won't be.

It's gonna be brutal. Mothers are very protective.
I'd wait until the mothers chicks are old enough to where they are independent and the mother leaves them

The broody would be in a dog crate that I've wrapped 3 sides with feed bags. She won't willingly leave the nesting box at all. Would that be better? By the time they(Dodo's) hatch the OG Momma hen and chicks should be in my main coop.

Had to put Pants (Cochin) in the rabbit palace... there’s plenty of room. She had 8 eggs now I can’t bring myself to toss any of them.

I have two hens sitting on eggs. An Australorp and a Welsummer both should start hatching on the 7th

Don’t let anyone tell you the law of your coop. I can do things in my coop others can’t. You need to do what feels right.

Finally got everything settled. 9 eggs set to hatch the 21st-22nd. I’ll be sorting eggs every night since this crazy hen gets up to let the others lay and then gets back on the nest.
