Now that my incubator will be freed up soon I am going to try moving her. If she abandons the eggs then I will try to hatch them in there.[/QUOTE]
My broody refused to leave her nest today. I know for a fact the oldest egg under her is 5 days old. So, I decided to try moving her tonight.
In the process of moving her and the nest I candled the eggs. All 8 seem to be viable at this time. One of the eight was cracked.
I brought it in to candle in better conditions. I found it to still be viable so I put wax over the crack. Maybe that will work.
Anyway, I have a few more days until my incubator is free. So, I decided to try something.
I have been monitoring humidity levels and such. I found that indoors, with air conditioning running humidity stays around 45% so I put the egg in an egg carton in the brooder. I put a paper towel over top to protect from chick droppings. Temps in the warmest corner are running close to the temps in the incubator.
I hope the current hatch finishes soon. Then that egg plus a few others can go in the incubator.
Back to my broody. She was very unhappy at having her nest disturbed. But, when I put the flashlight beam on the eggs she settled down again. I hope she keeps it up.
