June hatch-a-long!

Pics
I candled my eggs today, they're on about day 8. Sadly though, even with our new Brinsea high power candler, there doesn't seem to be any development in any of them, no veins nothing. My guess is that they are unfertilized. My rooster was out of the coop for a few days but I had been hoping he was active enough to at least fertilize a couple of them once he got back... that was apparently not the case. I might try to hatch again but I am about to make a thread for some answers. I might join the hatch-a-long again at some point in the future but it is undecided what I will do.
Aw I'm sorry to hear that. :-/

Ok, so i have 6 Sebastopol geese in the bator! We are on day 25.... Just can't wait! I am having so much fun incubating......ADDICT! I want to incubate more eggs. Question for you all.... What do you all do with these batches of hatching eggs.... I cant see adding 20 more chickens to my flock and it seems like ya'all set so many new eggs. Do you sell them or what??
With the eggs I'll be hatching, I'll be keeping the hens for hatching their eggs next year and I'll sell the roos.

So I decided to candle the eggs again today to check air sacs so I had something to show me progression.

That little eggs last night I thought was much further than the others may not be as far as I thought. I found quite a few with very visible eyes. The one last night I couldn't make out an eye.

Two seemed to have no air sacs. The shells were a bit darker so it was hard to tell. One of them I believe actually has an embryo in it so if there isn't an air sac I don't see how it will survive :(

I took picturea, maybe y'all can see something.

That's so cool!

Probably not the best place to ask, but do you make it to Detroit often? I'm heading up there sometime this summer and may be able to snag you some Serama Eggs.

Not sure where at in Ontario you are.
Not too often. I'm about an hour away from Toronto when the traffic is good. ;)

I think the same paperwork with eggs and chicks will be the same, though, and I don't think we have the time for that. I'll for sure keep it in mind though! Thanks for the offer. :)

Just set 48 coturnix quail eggs in the first run of my newly built incubator 2.0. Wish me luck friends, my last hatch rate on my first built incubator was just so bad. But I’ve learned so much and I have high hopes :thumbsup

It looks like I will have a hatch this month too.

The question is broody, incubator or both. The broody has set for three days, we will see if she keeps it up. She did last time....

After reading all you have to do with incubator I want to stick with broody forever but that’s not very possible. ;)
