June Hatch A Long

Snap and Crackle look identical so the first picture represents both and Pop is the second picture. The only reason I can tell her apart is because of the beard and cheeks, lol. All 3 stayed brown unlike the other True Blues I have hatched which were a multitude of colors but these 3 are very pretty in better lighting, it's very overcast today. The third image is my little Frosted Legbar. You're making me want to hatch more chicks again...:lau

I looooove the name Poppy and I smile EVERY TIME I see your frost legbar. :celebrate

Isn’t the answer always to hatch more chicks???

I’ve got a couple eggs in the incubator but hopefully by the spring we will be at the new place. Lets all hatch together again!!!

YES! and YES! I look forward to another hatch along with you! We're seriously discussing moving ourselves, though it will likely be another year at least. I'm dreaming big though! I want a big pond and lots of space for our critters. lol

BIG POND FOR DUCKS AND NO RESTRICTIONS ON CRITTERS. I'm dreaming big for you, too!!!! :)

Some of our early May pullets are laying, but not our June babies. Our first to lay May baby laid olive eggs! She laid well for almost a month, then stopped... Not sure what’s up with her. This is a pic from two months ago of OE Boruto. She’s bigger now but still looks similar to this pic! I am guessing that we will get lots of eggs in the spring... Juvenile guineas are in their new coop and have just started free ranging. Our adults are pretty mean to them, so I hope that these two groups integrate....

Are anyone's June chicks laying yet?
Yes. I hatched 6 easter eggers and got 5 pullets and one cockerel. At least two are laying (1st one at 19 weeks) and I'm getting some teeny green eggs
:ya

Oh ... and mama went broody again and has just hatched 6 adorable bantam pekins a week ago!!

Nice egg colors and how lucky that you ended up with only 1 rooster!!

My friend sent me this picture of the Whiting True Blues that I gave her this morning and she said they're already plotting their escape. :lau
For anyone that is curious about the breed, or considering hatching some, be forwarned that they require a lot of handling to be semi friendly and come to you for treats. When raised by a broody like my June babies were, they are by far the flightiest chickens I've ever had and when I say flighty, I mean it. I found one about 20' up in a tree. I can't believe none of them ever left the yard, lol!
