Thanks! Oooh, I'm going shopping! lol

Hah! I’m in Canada... that one thing I’m sure I won’t be able to get through customs, so no temptation there, well it does make me want to start looking at local options though, so yeah... there’s still a bit

Half an hour later, we have a Spitz baby! Moonshine stood up long enuf for me to see it completely out and it walked a few steps, peeping, and she and it settled back down. I removed the cardboard and put up some plastic mesh, locking her in. By the time I got the camera, she was asleep and apparently so was the baby under her.. I am scrambling to get things ready, even a brooder just in case.
You’re doing so well for your babies! I love the partitions you’ve made. They’re so lucky to have you.

I’ve never had a broody and sometimes (SOMEtimes) I’m thankful. I’d be a micro-manager. And I think being fully prepared is a must, it’s not entirely fair IMO to expect all the girls to be okay with the babies, or mama to be prepared to defend them, or to be a mother!

Babies in a flock with their mama is ADORABLE though and natural and makes me squee. I’ll cross the broody bridge when it presents itself. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

My babies from April are growing up to fast:hit

Mine toooooooooooo. This was just last week.

This opal legbar hen was my very first home-hatched chick. Because of those disaster separators I used, she, and then another chick day 2 of the hatch, a male splash marans, had to come out solo and be in the warmer dry-out brooder by themselves for a bit. They’re basically imprinted and so sweet. They’d rather perch on a human than just about anywhere else.

Meanwhile, I’ve been googling silver penciled rocks all day.

I have several Wy's SL, GL, and Columbians. 4 of the chix are a cross with Columbian hens. Since you like laced birds I will share a pic of my favorite girl
This is Tilly, a Silver Penciled Rock, She will be the next to grace Sir Samuels abode.
What an amazing feather patten![/QUOTE]
she is also my tamest, she will walk up to me and peck my leg to get my attention so I pick her up and hold her. So I pet her and tell her what a pretty girl she is, then put her down and she walks off Happy...till the next time I go in the run :)

Aww, those pictures are so perfect! I love it when kids get as excited about chickens as I do. lol! My daughter claims some as "her" chickens so that I'm never allowed to rehome them even if they're not what I was hoping for when they grow up. :lau

Fresh hatchlings...used the 21 day slow bake method. :D So after I pulled these and put them in the brooder the lazy egg pipped and is now out of the shell so I got 9 out of the dozen I started! I will take it.:thumbsup

So sweet!! :love:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy Great job!!

9/12 is AWESOME!!!! :clap
This is the first year I have had an incubator so I'm happy with what I accomplished. I have a Hova-bator 1602N forced air, a turner and I got a humidikit https://incubatorwarehouse.com/humidikit.html it is a no hassle way of keeping the humidity level right and you don't have to open the bator to add water, which to me is a big deal. I also use a digital thermometer that has an external probe. I was able to verify that it reads true by checking it with a glass of ice water. So it was my go to for temp adjustments. Just layed the probe on the floor of the bator, worked great. So this is it till fall rolls around and I get Tilly and Sam shacked up together, I am looking forward to breeding Orrocks...should be interesting.
