June Hatch A Long

I started with 13 goose eggs and I moved them into my new IncuView so they would have a little bit of an auto turn feature (I still turn them all the way over morning and night) Only 5 were fertilized and 1 had a really early blood ring so I'm down to only 4 goose eggs. It's hard to photograph egg candling! I'm hoping I'm just being paranoid but the veining doesn't look as strong to me since I moved them to the IncuView so fingers crossed for my goose hatch! I'm new to hatching goslings and now they're in an unfamiliar new incubator and it's opening up all of those variables that make me feel new to hatching again, lol!

I had to pull an egg on Saturday, it was weeping. That almost never happens to me since I sanitize, it must have sat out too long at the breeder's and got hot or something. It was especially porous. So moving forward with 31 eggs, temperature and humidity steady right where I want them. So hard to wait 10 days to candle, but I will.

I just picked up my eggs from Metzer and the post office gave me a plastic bag and said “this box is leaking”

WHAT?

Ugh.

I am picking up some local eggs today too. All is not lost. I’m hoping it’s just in the corner of the box and the others are okay! :-/

@LaurEliz how many days along are they? I would not candle that egg anymore day 10 and 15. Be super gentle on day 10. By day 15, the detached air cell should have drawn down enough to “reattach” it so to speak if it is still developing.

I hatched two completely detached air cells last hatch in April.

Only a few reallllllly wonky air cells. Pics attached of those.

Of 20 eggs shipped, one was cracked. Five had to be washed.

There are only three eggs, 2 welsh harlequin and 1 of the hatchery choice assortment have perfect air cells. 8 or so have just slightly detached air cells. The rest are virtually saddled or totally saddled.

Still hoping for 50% for these shipped eggs, we will see. I have enough space I’ll probably put them in cartons for a few days in the incubator.

Nooo! That is not something you want to hear when picking up a package of eggs!

Fingers crossed that some of them hatch well for you!

I'm starting my egg collecting adventure tomorrow and I'll be home Friday evening with an update on what I've acquired! lol

One of the Welsh harlequin duck eggs day 6/7 the kids are so excited to watch the progress. The 4 under my neighbor's broody are set to hatch this weekend. I should probably clean the brooder out soon.

They're day 8 now. I haven't been candling that one and have been leaving it alone except for turning it. I will try to remember to keep you guys updated on if he's still going on day 10. Thank you for the advice!
