How did the hatching turn out? Amazing by the wayHi. I'm in! I've got a 7 month old young hen (sussex x wyandotte) who is now Day 2 on 10 araucana eggs (due 9 June). This is her (and my) first time (!!) so expecting lots to learn![]()
Still going, she's sitting tight. Due on 9 June, fingers crossed. How did the hatching turn out? Amazing by the way
I have nine that are due on the 2nd or 3rd! And two finch eggs for a few days to see if my finches are fertile. (If they are I'm not happy) The ones I have are coming along swimmingly. They're a mystery mix so who knows what's inside.
Does anyone else find that some eggs are more temperamental than others in regards to candling? I have some that I candle and they hardly move. Others I candle and they kick around and act all angry. Others get ticked if I move the egg too fast. It's kind of cute (even if it's in my head)
Yes, I always seem to have some that kick more than others and they're consistent. lol, I guess we get a sneak peek at their personalities early on! One of the chicks I had that was an absolute acrobat in the egg also manage to get out of the brooder after only about a week and a half! By the time it was 5 weeks old it flew 7' and escaped the chicken run through the only open spot on the whole thing, lol.
Just curious, but why don't you want your finch eggs to be fertile?
