June Hatch A Long

Question, are these blood rings? One has a noticable ring but this is my first time incubating so I'm not positive. Another has some sort of free flowing black spot in addition to what I assume is the embryo but I could be wrong. That's egg labeled B.

I'm on my phone so I can't see the pictures well but I don't see a bloodring clearly in any of the images. The black dot is likely the eyeball, that early in incubation the eye looks huge, lol. You can put a question mark on the eggs you're unsure of and check them again on day 12. If there is no further development you'll definitely know by day 12.

Got them in tonight! I figured that they sat over the holiday at the post office and they were also handled so poorly.

I rested them 12 hours from pickup, put the worst upright in cartons and won’t turn them. Will hand turn the rest until Thursday when my auto turning trays arrive. My duck eggs didn’t fit inside my regular trays. :-/

I set 18 from Metzer.

6 welsh harlequin
12 assorted

Plus

18 local eggs, all silver appleyard.

Expecting hatch June 25! :fl

Thanks so much. Yes they're incubating on their sides.
This will be my first time incubating on sides, last hatch along several folks had eggs like that and it was interesting to see all the ways an embryo can form and what you can and can’t see.

That’s my favorite part of the hatch a longs I hope people post lots of photos candling!

I’m a little late to the party, but I’ve got 41 chicken eggs in on day 12... my little giant circulating air incubator might be running a little cool, but I’m guessing that’s better than too hot! This is my second hatch. I’ve set 8 BCM eggs, which are quite hard to candle, about 12 Olive egger (wheaten ameraucanaXmarans)x Columbian Rock eggs, and the rest are from the Olive egger and some production red layers. Aside from the Marans I’m mostly breeding to bulk up on layers for next year. And because I’m just itching to hatch! Everything looked good on day 7 candling.

I am going to join in. I just ordered hatching eggs today. They will be here on Saturday. I have 8 Welsh Harlequin duck eggs, and 10 Australian Spotted Duck eggs. The Welshies will likely take all month but the Aussies take a little less time because they are bantam ducks. I really like the idea of raising a breed that is much more rare. Super excited.
