I can’t WAIT to see these chicks!!!!!Hi! I’m in!
Currently have 12x mixed Pekin bantam (cuckoo lemon, gold partridge, lavender, black), 12x light Sussex, 12x ‘rare’ pure bred ixworth and 12x cherry valley x Aylesbury eggs in incubators.
Don’t think any of the cherry valley x Aylesbury are fertile (candeling now and dumping if no sign of growth) but lots of movement in all the chickens eggs
My first time hatching chickens but due to hatch June 19th

Are they shipped eggs or yours?

We got them from a bird auction so didn’t need to go through posting
I FINALLY GOT THEM TO MOSTLY SHUT UP!
Just like human babies, they got over tired. Way over tired. Beyond over tired. And you know what happens to human babies when they get over tired? They go slightly insane. That hyperactive that makes no sense. Baby chicks do the same thing. And just like over tired human babies, they started egging each other on until the entire lot was cranky. They didn't WANT a nap time, they didn't WANT to go in their warming cave, they just wanted to scream.
SO. I took them out of the cage one by one and forced it into a sitting position. Then I snuggled it under my hands on my chest, lights off, me breathing deeply. They stayed that way until they settled down and started grinding really well. Then I gently put them back in the cage, where they went into the warming cave okay.
All seven babies got hand held until they shushed. My oldest ones refused to behave. Venus is my brat. She sorta behaved and settled. Virtue is my other brat. They feed off each other. Virtue kept screaming under my hands. I held her for ten minutes and let her go back into the cage.
They're still peeping, but it's the sounds of them settling in for a nap. Not screaming like wild banshees. I'm praying that they stay that way for a while and get a nap. I have a massive headache from their screaming. (I can't move them due to Demon Kitten). Please babies, sleep.![]()
