I see that now.

Much above 4 gets difficult! I use a candler with a base from the bottom and a magicfly on the top.

Hi Jolenesdad, can you explain further? Base? Magicfly?

OH MY GOODNESS!!
I had no signs of anything last night (end day 20 with broody mumma) but at 8.00 this morning there are at least 4 gorgeous fluffy butts! There may be more, I'm not disturbing mum at this point, but all 4 are really fluffy and active. Yay, first EVER babies, so excited. First time mumma too and she has been an absolute champ!

@Mixed flock enthusiast , I have pretty good success candling Marans eggs with a small high lumen flashlight like @juliasflock mentioned. Mine is a Sofirn 1300 lumen. I still wait until day 12 before I discard infertile marans eggs though because I want to be absolutely sure. Sometimes they're so dark it's like candling a rock. Lol

Here are the two candlers I use. Except the flashlight one I use has a cord, corded has a tad more power than batteries usually.

I also put a gif of me candling a blue egg at the very end before lockdown to help see in better so you can see. Let me see if I took any videos or photos of the brown eggs!

Me too! It gives so much shared information! Next to learning so much due to this giant database of fowl-keeping all over the world in different climates and ways; 24/7 cute fowl pics
