June Hatch A Long

I got eggs from someone here in SoCal. They hatched just fine.
This person was not in the quarantine zone.

I am in a quarantine zone no chickens allowed to be moved, none in none out.

@LuckyCluckyCA , I'm sorry! I know it can be frustrating trying to troubleshoot! If you decide to try hatching again it can be helpful to play around with your incubator for a couple of days before setting eggs because it can vary depending on your incubator as well as the environment you have it in.
So your humidity dropped below 30% when it was empty and so far even trying to adjust the existing reservoir is still bringing it over 80% correct? The reason I keep mentioning a sponge is because even if a chick flops around on it you wouldn't run into the possible issue of them accidentally dumping a cup of water.

Oh on this incubator the water is below the rack of eggs - so where would I put this sponge and is it wet or dry and water in resovior or not

You could put the sponge in a Tupperware on the rack at the same level as the eggs. That way you can add water as need be and you don’t have to move the eggs to put the sponge underneath.

You can put the sponge anywhere! If you have a vent hole, it’s nice to place it underneath because you can keep it wet without having to open the incubator and drip water onto it.

The first picture is hatching as we speak and the other 2 pictures are a week or 2 old now. The first one was June 4th but they were sold before I took a picture. The first picture is my Dorking project Silver Grey Dorking x (Silver Grey Dorking x Red Ranger), going to make Light Dorkings as well as improve the Silver Grey Dorking. They are not very hardy on their own with well less than 50% surviving to adulthood. The Black one in that picture is a stray Ayam Cemani I threw in to fill out the egg turner. The 2nd picture is my Ayam Cemani broody, 5 chicks. The 3rd picture is my Old English Game Bantam 2nd hatch of the year, 3 hens sat on 15 eggs then the first hen hatched out 3 chicks and the other 2 abandoned their eggs to tend to the 3 hatched. This happened the first time they went broody this spring.

Exciting! Those doking meat projects sound awesome!

I'm sure there are several things you could try but at this point if I were you I just wouldn't use your reservoir and just use a wet sponge. When I've used a sponge I just put it on top of the rack.
