June Hatch-A-Long

On day 7. I have 15 Swedish flower hen eggs and 4 silkie eggs in. Can’t wait for this hatch. I’m geeking out over these Swedish Flowers. Can’t wait to see these babies

I cannot wait to get some Swedish Flower Hens! I am currently waiting on eggs to ship. The seller I bought them from is currently running 2-3 weeks behind on their orders (clearly noted in the description). Still waiting on my 2nd batch of silkies for the season too. The seller for the silkies I have bought from before and are excellent to work with. I sent a message just to check in and they said that due to cold temps, their hens were stressed so it is taking longer to get orders filled. I hope both ship soon though! I've got a whole list of things I need to hatch and really hate to hold up the show too long.

I have a little polish/frizzle cochin that I hatched out a few weeks ago that has a little mohawk and he is frizzled so He looks even more hilarious. I'm calling him Spike for right now. I'll try to get a picture of him later today.

My real delivery of Death Layers got here today instead of Tuesday like was said. Seller shipped 8 eggs the 6 I ordered and two extra. Which was good because one broke in shipping.

Just bought some more Copper Marans eggs. Both my incubators are now full (numbers wise until the eggs all arrive) until hatch dates roll around in June and will be immediately filled with more eggs for late June and July!

I found a second cracked egg. I put a coat of nail polish on the cracks hopefully that will work out so they can develop. Their wasn’t any leakage from the eggs, so hopefully is enough.

I've got a barnyard mix of Heritage roo, RIR, and ISA Brown hens. My bator is the mini Brinsea one and we're on Day 6! Sooo excited!

I had 17 silkie eggs due to hatch June 6th

I did my first candling today and most are going really well! I've got 11 eggs which show promise, lots of veins, and even a bit of movement from the embryo. The air cells aren't the best, but I still think they've got a good chance.

4 of the eggs are clear, with no sign of growth or just too shaken to develop at all.

2 of the eggs had blood rings. 1 of the two was one which came to us with a very large crack, we gave it our best and put nail polish over, hoping it would make it anyway. It looks like it did not. The other blood-ringed egg I threw out after noticing some discharge. I don't want an exploding egg. The rest of the eggs I'll give until day 14 to show improvement.

I'm candelling pekins tomorrow. Any tips for candelling bantam eggs? Do i need less power in my light lest i cook them? Ta!
