June Hatch-A-Long

Looks tailless like Araucana

It's DH's favorite. Little mutant farm mascot, I guess. In case it does turn out to be a cockerel I've been trying to spend extra time with it, so maybe it won't be a jerk. I keep teasing DH that it's going to ride around on his shoulder like a parrot.

There's a couple in my June hatch that look like they might be similarly marked. Wonder if they'll have no tails as well 😂

Yay have six so far can't wait for my two green eggs to hatch though.

I woke up this morning literally mins before the first zip. I hadn't even gotten coffee. There are at least 3 other pips in my line of sight, but so far, can only see the ones beak, but no other progress. My incubator is on a kitchen counter, and there is a warm spot in the floor from just standing there all day instead of doing something boring, like cleaning my bathroom 🤣

This is more important!

Now I am looking at the Araucana. They look like an interesting bird. Even saw a few in blue! I found some online for sale. I want them but don’t know if I should get them. They are interesting tailless birds.

They're very unique looking chickens. My friend just sold off her flock because they aren't great layers and their eggs are very small but I still like them.

I am in a good place chicken wise at the moment. I have hatched a bunch, I have more another week out + but I think I am mellowing, I don't have eggs in the mail, all my chicks are enjoying just being chickens, and they are also friendly. My big hens are laying. I am planning for next year already. But good for now.

Where is everyone else, content yet, anxious, still wanting?

I just did some reading research on them. I think I may need to have these chickens. They sound really cool and I am not very curious about them. Though the face tuffs killing chicks is nerve wrecking of an idea.

So I have a broody. Today I caught one of my 9-10 week old ducks keep trying to kick her off the nest and sit on it. Is there anyone that has ever had a duck that old try to sit on a nest before?
