June Hatch-A-Long

Pics
Hopefully... I have jersey giant crosses (the only two white ones ever with my black jersey giant) eggs. My friend has them and he bred them with his Deathlayers so now I’ll have cool looking ones hopefully because he gave me a dozen eggs to hatch.

Im not sure what these other ones will look like but I’m excited to see the Cochin Deathlayers

Yes, all your combos sound like they should be exciting!

I just saw an ad for silver deathlayer hatching eggs nearby... Good thing I already have a full incubator!

This gave me a good laugh. I loved my chickens more than the ducks, that's why the ducks were traded for two nice bunnies.
I love my duckies. I love hearing the little webbers go flip flop on my floor. But I have found I really like the lavender color in chickens. I am just worried I am going to have a bunch of health issues going on with them because chickens seem to have more going on in them than duckies do.

Just a whole ton of random thoughts in one place, but I did put a dozen eggs in. They better not be all black because I will curse Squatch. I have waited over a month to put their eggs in because I want different colored chicks not black.

The 9 barnyard cross I hatched out in April from my flock - 8 of them were buff....and are feathering out buff (some with some banding on their wings). I think I can say that my Buff Orpington roo has some strong color genes. Hens were Australorp, Barred Rock, RIR, Buckeye, Dark colored EE's and 1 white EE. All dark colors but that one and I got all buff chicks except 1 black one.

Set another 69 eggs last night making today Day 1. I am officially addicted to hatching.:woot I set barnyard mix, Java, and silky eggs. I have two broody hens sitting on another 10 eggs. I just hatched out almost 60 this weekend. I did sell half of those though. It seems people are really interested in the silkies. They are probably my favorite so it's hard to sell those chicks. I just love to watch chicks grow to see what they will look like. I've had some awesome surprises from the barnyard mix eggs my neighbor gave me last month.

I’m going to sell some of my silkie chicks. I’m going to weed out the chicks I don’t want.

I sold 5 yesterday and I will probably sell most of the ones I just put in the incubator when they hatch, I'll just keep the ones I want. I've been getting a lot of blacks (they could be silver partridge I think), I'm trying to build up my blue stock. I've got 6 blue chicks right now and they are looking super cute. I'm going to be trying for splash next year when these grow up!!

Mine are just white I think.

I have light Brahmas, white leghorns, a Deathlayer cross, silkies, and jersey giant crosses growing in the brooder right now.

I have some barnyard mixes and lavender Orpingtons growing out now. They will be 4 weeks old this week. It has been so fun watching them grow. I have some frizzle and necked necks too. 🥰
