Speaking of dirty...

I forgot to mention in my candling post yesterday that one egg had a black spot inside. It was moving freely around inside and appeared to be maybe a typical bloodspot you find in an egg from barnyard flocks.
I noted which egg it was and will monitor it closely.

Anyone know if it might affect the embryo/chick development?

First ducky is out! This is the one with the gigantic air cell - a day early and a bit on the small side, both of which were expected. Came home to it screaming bloody murder in its egg, it had turned without pipping and had its bill tucked under its wing almost on the opposite side of the air cell from where I made the safety hole. So down to business we went chipping away some shell and once I found its face it was like, peace out egg! And shoved its way on out! :wee
Now back into the bator to fluff up and wait for its siblings. What color are we thinking? White? Buff? The breeding group were assorted colors so it’ll be interesting to see what all I wind up with. :) one of the others has a nice big external pip. Not sure about the 3rd cuz it was just a quick glance when I was pulling this one out.
