my mommas both hatched 3 little cuties ! I got my mottled Java!!! 🥰
The egg that I thought I crushed hatched a cute little yellow EE. Woke up this morning to 17 more chicks and at least 7 pips! It’s only day 20!!! Next few days will be busy! I have 15 chicks coming Tuesday that I had special ordered! Salmon faverolle and silver spangled spitzhaunen! Can’t wait to see those cuties. Gonna have to make some more room in the brooder! Oh yea I also found another broody hen in the coop last night!:th

Good news bad news... Bad news: our lone white chick of our broody hatch continues to have navel problems... It hatched yesterday and had a little bit of unabsorbed yolk. Mama pecked at it and made it bleed, so I dusted with styptic powder and set in the incubator until dark. The navel was a brown clump, so I cut most of the brown off and set under mom in the dark. Checked this morning, and there was a brown blob again, which mom pecked and made bleed again.... Dusted with styptic power again and set in incubator. I think I’ll set up the brooder and place it in there for the day. Maybe eating and walking around will help the navel heal? Since the navel really stands out against its yellow down, I’m also thinking about spraying it’s butt with blue kote to hide the navel, then place with mom again tonight? Anyone have other suggestions?

Good news: the egg that has been dented and in our incubator for a week just hatched! I can’t believe it: miracle chick!!! I’m planning to put it and the white chick under mom tonight...

Blu Kote works great!

Yes! I have three hens. Getting some chicks this week. Hoping for at least one rooster.
We got four salmon Favorelles chicks from a hatchery last year - 3 hens and one roo! They have short little legs, are smaller than I expected, and lay a small egg, so wondering if ours are actually bantam.

I love those miracle babies!

Two that pipped last night hatched sometime in the early morning.

One hatched white once again. Is it possible the white leghorn seed was still in her? This is ridongculous! They’ve been separated since at least late February to early March. 10 weeks is clearly not enough to flush it outta their system:rant

3 of 4 eggs are internally pipped hatching upright in the turner (unplugged).

My bantam brahmas were all DIS besides 1 last month so have 2 of 2 be internally pipped is a huge deal.

Cant wait to see how they hatch in the turner and the mess it will make. I’m hoping this will be my new way of hatching!
