Not for me, no way. But gotta love a love for learning (the 5 yo is definately not a book learner, but a hands on learner).
Incubating and hatching has all been awesome homeschooling stuff. How often do a 5 and 9 yr old learn embryology??

I bought 1 a dozen large brown fertile eggs from a local wholefood store and set it last May13 under my broody hen. I candled on day 10 and found 7-likely-viable-eggs. Hatch date is June 3.

Candled today and removed five eggs, down to 12 now between two hens sitting. Today is day 14.
I'm going to set another 18 eggs tomorrow under my remaining broodies.
I'm really hoping

there are purebred brahmas and/or faverolles in there, as both my boys and most of my girls (over half my flock in fact) were predated a couple of days ago.

Now four out of six are broody and I'm actually hoping for one more so I can set a few more eggs. My bator hasn't arrived yet due to a strike in transportation.

Lockdown today on the 3 fertile from my first batch of eggs from my young trio of BOs!!

Ok, candled eggs due 17trh June, 11/11 for me! 1 is 50% wax on the outside, and tat one looks fab too! Even the air sac looks tha same as the others, which I reallt wasn' expecting. Left the edges of the cracks uncovered to allow for 'breathing' room. Not sure if that's the way to do it, but it makes sense to me. I had larrge (6mm circumference) dent, and cracks all over one face from top to bottom, and one small one on the base of the other side, just over the air cell line. Please wish that one luck, it's a precious egg
