So sorry for your loss.

Misschicken, so sorry about your lemon orp :-(. I just did my last check for the night and one of mine is pipped at the wrong end. There is some blood, so I am afraid it hit a vein. Still moving, and not much to be done right now. So far 4/7 pipped, two starting to zip, but not very far yet and not super active at the moment. We will see what the morning brings!
MIC (Make It Chick, my broody rescue) is chirping more and attempting to sit up. Doesn't seem to be swallowing super well, so I stopped the honey water for now. Umbilicus is almost closed, so hoping she will make it thru the night too. Good night all, and happy hatching!

I have a mixed batch in my incubator this time. My entire first batch got cooked, sadly. I came home from work and the temp was over 120. I still waited until several days past the possible hatch date then got rid of them.

The first 5 of the new batchare due to hatch this weekend, 7 the following weekend, and those for the week after that are still growing in number, as my free rangers mate like mad but seldom sit the nests.

I am excited and hopeful.

Lets see if I can post a picture...

Hatch update;
3 of the 4 pips hatched overnight. The wrong-end pip hasn't hatched yet, and every time it moves, it starts to bleed again. I chipped some shell away and cleared a little membrane off its beak to facilitate breathing, then let it be. Hopefully it can absorb its blood before it bleeds too much :-(
I have one more new pip, and 3 eggs without pips, but still rocking.
MIC was trying to walk around this morning (YaY!!!! ) so I popped her/him into the bator with the 3 new chicks. Now that I have something to compare to, I am beginning to think she is a he. Luckily MIC works for both :). Other than some curled toes, MIC fits right in with the rest. I will splint them when I move them to the brooder if s/he still needs it.
Hoping the last 4 eggs (wrong end, new pip, and the 2 rockers) make it out today :D
