June Hatch a Long

I have 6 eggs due to hatch 6/6

3 sizzles (depending on the chances of course) 3 OEGBs! whos with me?

ETA: There under a broody (first time broody cochin) any advice?

Mine are under a first time broody too. I've incubated with an incubator before but not with a hen. Mine started with ceramic eggs a week before the real eggs arrived. On day three I separated her into her own private nest with food, water, and a small exercise area. Day four (still on fake eggs) she panicked and was trying to tear open the fence and squeeze her head between the bars when she finally got off the nest. She wanted OUT, not just into her run. Since I was worried about that happening again, possibly when I'm not home or nearby to hear, I have made it routine to lift her off the nest once each morning and put her outside. She isn't willing but after a few minutes she gives up and storms the yard in a broody frenzy - feathers sticking out like a Christmas tree, clucking nonstop, eating and filling up as quick as she can before running back to her nest. The other chickens avoid her - even the roosters. She's been in her private suite for almost a week now (only two days with real eggs) and I've never seen her off her nest except when I remove her.

Snow eggs.... those will melt you know

goose eggs....pretty big

quail eggs......very small

fried eggs..... those will get stinky quite quickly, I don't recommend it

I received my BBS am eggs today! If my blue splash silkie is still sitting when i get hime, she will be getting some of them. The rest will go in the bator for hatch date of June 11.

At least we are a friendly bunch (and hopefully can be helpful too if needed). Welcome to the hatching addiction - you can't stop with just one attempt!!

Yep. I figured I would see some of the same folks. Great people here, just that the body count was getting too high. Kinda tough on a newbee!! LOL!! Figured I'ld be better off listening to those who were at the same stage in the hatch as I.
