June Hatch a Long

Woke up to the calls shortly after midnight! Since this was the only egg that made it to day 21 (total hatch process hatched almost perfectly at 22 days!) I am now trying to find a chick or two that I can pick up locally to keep it company.

This is my first hatch, how does the shell look?

Perfect text book hatched shell! Yipeeee on your 1 baby....lol

Day 18 and have 12 eggs on lockdown! Im using the dry method and was wondering what the highest humidity I should go before I have to worry? What are the ranges you all usually keep the humidity between? Ive set them with water in all channels and the humidity has already gotten up to 75% and still rising.

My goal is 65% so back it down a little

. 65% is optimal 75 % doable anything much higher and you start to risk mushy chick problems

Soo today is my day 7 on my shipped very wanted eggs. I candle them and only four out of the 18 have veins in them. the air cell still moving but they have veins. I am so sad cause its so little and anything can go wrong with them... Im not touching till day 14 to see the progress.

I left them all in there just in case they start getting veins.

I know its just hope.

Welcome to the horrible world of shipped eggs!

Jac , you get that new cabinet moved out to your place yet ?

No, hubby will pic up tomorrow. Been dealing with cow stuff and had grandson all week. They had it listed for sale and got no takers so the gave it to me.

Bottom comes out of drawers and wire mesh put in, then insulated, top comes off an plexiglass put in its place, shelves put in the bottom for egg turners to set on, doors will have panels cut out and plexiglass in there also, whole bottom area insulated with foil insulation. When it comes time to hatch, they come out of turners and placed in drawers for hatching! The guy we got the plans off of said he just sold his this year and went commercial walk in. Said he hatched 7000 show quality eggs in the unit. It was a **** good incubator.

Nice
inventor ?
AutoCAD, but I'm dabbling with SketchUp. We only have the LT 2D of AutoCAD at work.

hello, this is funny, im also a CAD drafter

hi.. just popping in to say... ME TOO!!! : )

Yay for drafting! Good to know I'm not the only one who probably went overboard with their coop designs and what not. LOL People always tease me for plotting what someone else would draw on a napkin.

I set up my brooder in a brooder the other day and the broody has stuck to the nest for two nights. I smuggled 4 eggs under her last night and she was holding tight this morning. The 4 week old chicks are climbing on top of the wire crate which is funny & frustrating because they had a roost half it's height and never used it. I better put another roost in tonight before they poo all over the broody and new chicks.

I've not seen any pips or movement in my incubator eggs which is making me nervous even though it's only day 20. The cartons are probably restricting any movement, but last time they were rocking around and I had at least one pip by the morning of the 20th day. I incubated even drier this time, using the air cell circles as a guide and they are spot on based on the graphics I've seen. I'm about to call it a day at work and head home to stare down the incubator. I'm so wound up over these eggs! I think I can only incubate a couple times a year or I'll lose my mind!

Put mine into lockdown yesterday morning..... already have one pip... not sure if that's good or not, this early... but sure am excited to have more babies hatch!! I wanna post baby chick pics too! *jealous*
