if you look closely try to see if the membrane is stuck to the chick or if the chick can move away from it at times.
Actually, I don't have to worry about it this round. - I am am out of state right now. I just worry from a distance. My husband is hatching them where he works. He has them on display so customers can see when they come in to the office. Several are bringing their kids back tomorrow (office is closed today) to see what hatches. For their and our sake I hope we have some new babies. The last hatch happened while at work. Instead of running home, we went to an auction and did not return until around 10PM and found 7 wet baby Rhodebar chicks drying off. Kept them in overnight and found a new hatchling (#8) in the AM still needing to dry out. My husband is really good at not standing over the incubator...I am the one with that issue. I think by not keeping watch all of the time, you get to anxious about assisting a hatchling if it seems it is taking too long. We did not have any pips that did not hatch. Either they did or they did not. Just going to wait until I hear somethingGood luck for this evening. if you can tear yourself away from the incubator, please keep us updated on progress.![]()

It looks stuck and like the membrane is shrinking. I'm scared to open the bator because I have another pip I don't want to risk drying out by opening. It too is stuck about where it was 9 hrs ago, but I can see it's beak is clear of it's body and membrane.
Edited to say I was able to moisten the membrane with warm water through the vent hole. I removed the membrane from its beak area and waited. It has since flopped out of the carton and is passed out. Poor thing must be exhausted!

Should have been more worried about the pipped chick (green egg) instead of the zipped chick (brown egg previous post). Just checked and it has stopped breathing - foamy around the beak and nostrils, so it drowned? The pip has been open with no excess fluid for hours - where did all this goo suddenly come from?
Oh no, so sorry. How is the other one doing?
