June Hatch a Long

Count is now 2 OE and 2 Marans doing well, 1 OE pipped and passed away this AM, and 1 Marans with bad umbilical hernia & passed sometime this evening. Looks like the broody pushed it out from under her and into the corner. Only 6 eggs left...crossing fingers!

Candled tonight and out of my shipped eggs, I had two nonfertile, four quitters, a couple maybes, and a bunch of them that definitely have life. All three of Cider's eggs are coming along well. Three of the five easter eggers just never developed, unsurprising since I pulled them from the fridge. The other three are doing well, though.

The last chick zipped and got out just fine, that'll make the 1st batch 100% (not counting eggs taken out at fertility phase 1) My 2nd batch will begin hatching in about 2-3 days. So Excited, i've got some Barnevelders in there!

PS: Yes, that thermometer is incorrect, i got some water on it while i was fishing my water syringe contraption in there to add more water, so the bulb got a little wet.

Humidity held at about 70, and temp on top of eggs is 101, below is exactly 99.5 (thanks to the fan in my bator) Definately rig up a PC fan if you are doing still air right now. Very cheap, and helps alot.

Well out of my 12 Isbar eggs, I had 6 hatch last Thursday. One hatched with a ruptured yolk and passed within an hour, another hatched with its yolk fully on the outside and passed very quickly, 2 are perfectly healthy, 1 was born with yolk partially absorbed but is fine now and the last one has curled toes that are now straightening in "slippers". What would cause all of this? Was it something with the hen or is something going on with my bator? I just hatched 14 out of 18 chicks 3 weeks ago and everyone is fine. Im really bummed cause these are for a friend of mine and I have never had so many issues.

im fixing to start ducks, what temp and humidity do u do for ur ducks
?
If rouen female doesn't squat in the morning I guess I'll be setting 10 eggs from her. Now that I have some space in the bators. Thinking about adding some other eggs in a week.

And finally got a decent count on them chipmunks I had. 22/23 fertile. only 1 fertile egg quite late term. 25 were infertile. But was a oopsy batch anyway. So I am more than pleased. Except for the 1 that runs INTO the feeder and then out another hole. Just like a real chipmunk.

Another flash rainstorm today and broody guinea still hasn't showed up with babies. 10 I added to bator from her clutch show no signs of pipping either. HOPE soon something happens.

Other than that its a long wait til next weekend for me. Guess that gives me time for garden and work on barn.

my first to hatch! Its one of my golden comets!

Will have to get photos later, but broody hatched three chicks over the weekend. She was up off the eggs trying to lead the chicks out but I guess they weren't brave enough yet. She went back to them, but I gathered the remaining eggs and put them into my new incubator that just bought hours earlier. Two more hatched before bedtime (up late trying to catch up from being gone all day plus getting ready for Day Camp the next day). Got three eggs all I see is aircell and big dark area -can't tell if internal pip or movement. Hopefully when we come home tonight, external pips or even better, out of shell on the final three. Then I will take chicks back to broody.
