June Hatch-A-Long

Ok now I got a question. It looks like one of the eggs has that after birth type stuff sticking out of it and the egg looks like it's splitting. Should I be worried or does this happen?

Thanks! So I set part of my eggs on Friday the 23 and the rest on the 24. Since they didn't all start at the same time do I have to lay part of them down the day before the rest? Or can I just lay them all down at the same time? They are in an auto turner. Not sure what to do.
easier to just lock them all down at once. Skipping one day of turning at the end won't hurt them in the slightest. So lay them all down when the earliest eggs would need to be laid down.

5 pips, one is starting to zip! My little baby is going around and telling them to hurry up. Lol!
you know how when they first hatch they will follow you through the incubator windows? I use that to my advantage and use the already hatched chicks to wiggle the ones that are asleep on the job...lol. it seems to make them hatch a little faster. When I do that I can usually keep them steadily hatching until the end. When I don't do that it seems to take them all a little longer. So I use the first chicken to harass the other chickens out of their shells..lol

Thanks missnu01! I was so afraid that too long laying still might make them stick, but that would make it easier and less time with the bator open. I'll just lay them all down at same time.

They develop wrong early on if not turned...by the end you should already have a whole chicken in there

Well this is sort of maybe a June hatch issue. I free range my chickens and for the past week my one bantam has been hiding her eggs. So I started locking the chickens up until their eggs are laid for the day, and she paces in front of the door all desperate looking until I give up and let them out. And I've been getting 3 eggs a day from 4 hens, so as long as I get 3 eggs I go ahead and let them out, but none of the eggs have been hers...so today I finally let them out around 3:00 after I had gotten my 3. And now she's disappeared. So she's off in the woods somewhere setting a clutch of eggs. So in 3 weeks she will show back up with chicks, or I will never see her again. I've wandered as far into the woods as I can...The blackberries are taking over everything at the moment. Great for critters close to the ground...not so great for people looking for the ground critters.

Oh how cute she'll be with her babies. I am so skeptical my hens would actually hatch out chicks (there's also no rooster).

So unrelated to June hatch along I guess but a neighbor just bought me this gift for no reason (I should give her some fresh eggs). How nice of her.

I would like to join the June hatch a long. I have a broody silky sitting on 6 eggs right now. Her hatch date is set for the 16th of June. I had also already set 20 eggs that are due to hatch on the 9th and I am setting 24 more tomorrow for a hatch date of 6/22. I guess you could say I have caught the hatching bug. I am anxiously awaiting right now my very first hatch to come out of their shells. I just keep praying all is going okay.
Good Luck to all who have hatches coming up. Can't wait to see some pics of all the cuties...
