June Hatch-A-Long

2 of the eggs I  set Tuesday still don't show veining. I think I'm going to toss them.

There is no danger in waiting a little bit longer. I haven't had any start that late I don't think, but it'd possible maybe depending on the type of incubator you use

The broody hen hatched out 10 chicks today. She started out with 12 eggs under her and I candled the remaining and they were clear.

Four are silkies (from what I can tell, they are two black and two buffs, albeit one is lighter than the other) and the other six chicks are ?. I was originally told they were Birchen OEG, then no, they were Mille Fleur...but now that they have hatched out, I don't think they are either. However every single one of them have feathered feet, and the eggs they came from were almost round (rather than oval) and creamy white, and much smaller than the silkie eggs. Anyone want to venture a guess, other than just some sort of bantam?

I just candled my turkey eggs and if all goes well, I'll have close to 30 little Narragansett poults in 3 weeks!
Sorry for the blurry pic - the best I could do holding the flashlight, egg and taking a pic with the camera all at the same time.

Hopefully you're still able to make out the dark little turkey embryo and some of the veins.

Ok, not going to try catching up.. :/ Not these eyes. Hope everyone is having success. I have one baby close to being out..nice blue egg.

I have duck eggs. Did I say that on here..that a friend had a mama duck killed by a racoon, and that the eggs were brought to me. Now, to figure out how far along they are. Remind me if I put photos up or not. I have some I took a couple of days ago. This thread moves fast!
I have some mixes going into lock down next weekend. Pretty mix of colors. I am loving the blues. I just put some NN's in. There are a couple of beautiful very large Olive Colored ones in there..a NN, that lays an OE. Nice. :)
