June Hatch-A-Long

My eggs are on day 10, I have at least 4 mixed good and 1 Nankin. The little Nakins egg is so light and small that you can see it's little apendages moving and the umbilical cord. Ill try to get a good video when i gets dark

Thank you for the congrats. It's a His, Mine and Ours on children..he had 7, I had 4, then we had one together. Lots of grandkids. :) Expecting our first great grandchild in Aug. :) Whoot!

Chick news, I have 4 HRIR's in lock down. No pips yet..due to hatch tomorrow.

Ha, just went to check on them, I have a pip. Hope all four make it. This is the least amount of this guys eggs that have made it to lock down, that I've bought from him. I always get a great hatch from him. Not too good at lock down this time. Won't be too bad I guess if all 4 make it.

So I have a question. I had a batch of eggs in the incubator. Just hit day 24. Silkies hatching from day 20 on to today but had 16 EEs in also but not one pip on them. We have decided to leave them til saturday. Anybody experienced this? I cant believe that they all died in shell. I know the incubator was ok or the silkies wouldnt have made it(9 in total).

I too am waiting on 4 chicks, my third time hatching out of a little Brinsea Mini Advance. both previous times, I hatched 4 as well. Four seems to be my number! Tomorrow is Day 1 so I guess it could be Friday or Saturday for me. Really wanting these eggs to hatch, Swedish Flower Hens.

Good Luck!

I am sorry I have no experience with hatching at all.. complete newcomer. I am hoping that couldn't be true, but sounds worrisome. Did you candle them before heading into lockdown, and they were all viable?

Hoping nothing is wrong and that they are just making you wait!

Sometimes the hens diet or an illness with one of the parents can make their chicks sickly or not hatch. So it's possible, but to me It sounds like maybe your incubator is a little low temp wise. This why your bantam eggs are hatching late as well. I always set together salmon faverolle and easter egger eggs, and the faverolles always hatch first as they are a smaller egg. They lay a medium sized egg while my easter egger lays a jumbo egg.

I'm starting to post a little late here, I am on day 15. I have 12 out of 14 eggs left in the incubator. They are all Black and Lavender Orps. My last hatch only resulting in one chick out of 42 eggs. I had to buy a chick from Craigslist to keep that little darling black orp pullet company. It is very very difficult to see into these dark eggs when candling, but I can see that it is very dark and and the air cells look good. Early on, I could see some veins though.

This time I exchanged my incubator, one side of the heating element was not working, plus my temp guage stopped working. I also bought an egg-o-meter. Hoping this batch goes better.
