Just arrived

Glad to meet you, and very sorry for your losses. :hugs

You might enjoy the Texas Chicken Air Conditioner if you guys still have that awful heat going on. You fill an empty plastic jug or several empty bottles with water and freeze them over night (be sure to leave an inch or two of space at the top for the freezing water to expand). Put them out for your chickens, ideally, in a shady spot. the chickens will cluster around them to enjoy the cooler air.

You have one rooster too many for the number of hens (if you are allowed to keep roosters). Sometimes, roosters will get along, and things will be OK, but mostly, they will fight once they get to puberty and start crowing. So if you need to rehome one of those boys, the best solutions tend to be posting to:
1. Your local Craigslist
2. If your local Facebook has a poultry interest group, post there, too
3. Your local state or area thread here on BYC.

In all cases, try to include the best glamor shot you can get of the rooster, plus all the positive info you can about him: breed, where you got him, is he gentle, etc.

Best wishes with your birds and all your plans! Glad you joined.
