Hello all I’m new to this and have a couple of questions before I commit to an idea! I want my family to become more sustainable! We already have a garden but I ran the idea of getting chickens! Right now I’m looking through regulations and trying to figure out what is best! I’ve read that you can have 2 chickens for .5 acres don’t know if that is right or not! I live in a townhome community and I just want to make sure I’m not breaking any laws because I would hate to get started and be kicked down!

Realized no questions was asked!
1) What is the regulations for owning chickens in Waldorf, MD?(searched but have no clear understanding of what I’ve read again new to this)
2) Will living in a townhome affect my chances of owning chickens?

i am in port tobacco and also just getting started. when i called county zoningI was told on a lot under 2 acres you can have 2 chickens per acre. i am not sure about the townhome thing.

I think your HOA will be the biggest hurdle, so definitely read through your CC&Rs. Feel free to post what you find there, verbatim, and if no restrictions, post a link to what you find for your city/county (whichever entity controls zoning for your lot).
