Ameraucanas and Araucanas are two distinct, different breeds with different characteristics. Within the breeds are color varieties. Then there are the Easter Eggers, a non-standard group of birds that come in many colors and types.
Some Ameraucana folks can be quite adamant that birds with non-standard colors are not actual Ams. There are some project colors like Lavender that may eventually be added to the Standard, but it is a long process.
