Just broken hearted

I am so sorry about your eggs not hatching. It is really a downer.

I have had shrink wrapped chicken eggs that did not hatch and I have upped the humidity--these should hatch probably Tuesday. If they hatch.

My four little Guinea 'tester' eggs did hatch today with no problem. They were several days early, though.

This is a new Genesis 1588 and the temp should have been good on it. I already lowered it one notch, and it looks to me as if I should probably knock it down another notch. But those Guinea eggs did hatch, so at least things are improving. And they look very healthy, too. Nice energetic little birdies.

I hope you get your humidity right. Am I correct in thinking that you said you are high altitude? I was just reading on another thread that high altitude eggs had to have a little higher humidity.

And it makes a difference what altitude they come from, also.

Anyway, I send hugs.

Thank you iggimom, I am so happy that your Guinea eggs hatched, that is great!
How did you manage to lower your temp on the Genesis? I had to fiddle with mine for over a day (really) they would go to 104 then to 85. I was about to pull my hair out.
Mine are running at about 101 right now and I am afraid to fiddle with them because they have eggs in them.
I would like to try Guinea eggs someday. There are some really interesting varieties out there. There is a Pheasant on Ebay that I am drooling over. But I need to figure out how to hatch out what I have before moving on.
And thanks for the hug. I am still sad everytime I think of the eggs. They were so perfectly formed.

Re lowering the temp on the Genesis.

Right inside its little motor, there is a WEE TINY little bunch of keys with numbers on them.

It comes from the factory set to 4.

Then you put the '4' so it isn't on, THEN you push '3'.

It tells you how on the very last page of the instructions. The problem is that those little keys are SO little.

Yes, I waited between hatches also, to turn it down. It is down a little, but you know, I think I need to knock it down again.

I was so in hopes that it would be right, right from the beginning.

I hope your next bunch does better.

My BO eggs should hatch by Tuesday or perhaps Wednesday if they are going to. I'll let you know.
