I stopped turning them today and moved them to the hatcher. They are due to hatch this week. I have four that have made it this far.

I got 4 goslings and 5 ducklings over the past weekend. It was a true easter with 7 chicks hatching as well. At least I think. I've lost count.

How exciting! My Pilgrim pair are sitting on a clutch of at least four eggs, the gander sits more than the goosie girl. I figure the end of April is the due date...its still cold enough though that if they just hid the first eggs (as they are when they get up to eat) those may have frozen but at least two should be okay and they may have more than four eggs in their nest- I am trying to allow them their natural instinct on this...with high hopes, too...

I would like to have naturally breeding and brooding waterfowl. Right now I am fortunate to have eggs in the bator. Good luck with your geese, Cheryl.

I have read Pilgrim geese have trouble with sterility due to the low numbers of breeding pairs and small gene pool so I'm really much more hopeful than I should be:/

This morning I went to feed and water earlier than normally, surprised them so they didn't have time to cover the nest w/straw and I saw 7 eggs

You've got me thinking about trying the incubator method w/my RIR hens though, there's a beautiful and very nicely mannered rooster I am thinking of asking to borrow for what would you say? Two weeks?

A school teacher has an incubator and she orders eggs each Spring to hatch a variety of breeds for her kindergarten class- she's actually scared of adult chickens so any that are returned after some kids bring a bird home, she eats...I think she'd let my neighbor and I borrow the incubator and we could start Lucy's flock which would be very exciting for Lucy & I

We'd really need your expertise thru the entire thing...
