Just culled my first chickens and one had red splotches on its skin

Can you post an image? Sometimes when you pluck a blood feather it creates a little blood ring but shouldn't get that on the breast, as example. Most common on the wings.
 
Definitely not normal but may be safe to eat, a picture would be helpful. If you're not sure about it, you could always use it as dog food (assuming you have a dog).
 
What was your water temp?....

If the water was hot it would have cooked it, rather than turning it red or pink. I've done a lot of birds and never have I seen one that looked like that. Maybe a silly question but I'll ask anyway, was the bird dead when it went in the water?

That's a healthy, non contained rooster correct?

I wish I could give you more info but I can't at the moment. I'm gonna call around and see if I can find out because I'd like to know.

Yes he was definitly dead. I had the water temp at 148 Healthy free range 20 week old roo
