Just curious? Who names all their chickens and who doesn't?

I am in the same club.

All of mine have names, event the 3 determined to be cockerals in the bachlor pen that have a future dinner date at the house.

I will not go into the long list as I got 8 blue wyandottes, 5 silkies, 5 blue wheaten ameraucanas, 4 frizzle cochin bantams. And the 3 mutt boys in the bachlor pen. (2 of which are gonna be hard to dress for dinner as they have fun personalities)

The chickens in my "pet" pen all have names, only some of the chickens in my Orpington breedre pen have names...I'm [retty hard core about swapping up for better stock in there, always trying to improve so I don't want to get too attached in that pen...alll the Blues are "Big Blue" all the splashes are "Judi" and the blacks are "blackie" haha

I only have four, but they look so much alike I just call them "the girls".

I did name our neighborhood rooster, though. I call him "Intrepid." No one knows who he belongs to or even what breed he is, but he's been hanging around the area for a couple of years, and now that he's discovered "the girls" he spends most of his time lurking outside their pen. He can't get in, but he keeps trying. I've even caught him digging away at the pen's foundation, to no avail (so far).

Got to get them legg bands like I did for my wyandotte girls. Only one I can tell apart from the blue ladies is Alice. I am always checking the leg # to see who I am talking at.

Ok, ok.... I surrender!

But how in the world do you think up names for that many chickens?

I know all my breeders by sight. I just say the rooster with the correct carriage, the hen that has the odd spangling on her tail, the hen that needs cleaner barring, the hen that gets under my darn feet, the rooster that has that odd crow, the hen that tries to fly on my shoulder, that one hen with the odd spike.....

I did have one named old red once.... he was red... and like 10 years old...

Pick a theme, like Star Wars, flowers, book characters, all starting with the letter "H".

Like I said before, I tend to go with descriptive names. The chickens have to EARN a name.

Hence "Stoopid" and "Frikkin" and "BattleAxe" and "Banshee".

Some are named, though not all. Names tend to be bestowed upon unusual characteristics.

6 Silkie Roo's, three are named: Sultan, Spicy Cheeto, and Cheeto
2 Silkie hens: Mama and Gimpy (club foot)
13 Silkie juveniles that have yet to be named (not sure who I'm keeping or selling)
2 Buff Orpington hens: The Ladies
3 Light Brahma hens, no names
1 Light Brahma Roo: Mr Man
6 Light Brahma juveniles, no names yet (At least 3 will be sold)
10 juvenile d'Uccles - no names yet (I'll only be keeping a couple of them)
2 Delaware hens - no names
5 Easter Egger hens - no names
8 Easter Egger juveniles - no names yet (I'll only be keeping a couple of them)
1 white laying hen - no name
1 White Leghorn hen: Speedy
20 Cornish Rocks - no names (you know why)

Ummm... Do I really have that many chickens? Ack!
