Just curious? Who names all their chickens and who doesn't?

My small flock has names, when I get on the farm and have a larger flock and get into breeding the breeds I want. I most likely will only name a few. Any animal that is going to become supper will not have a name. I think if I had a large flock of all the same type I would not be able to tell them apart. I have that problem with my 3 bantam EE's they look so much alike now my DH can tell them apart.

So far we have

Kami, short for Kamikaze, barred rock
Elle, short for Elle Diablo, black sex link
Dirty or ODB, short for Ole Dirty Bird, a week old blue silkie
Mr Ornery, an A&M quail

Since I raise mine for meat as well as the eggs, I don't generally name the individuals. If I do call them by a name other than chick-chick, it is usually Stew for the roosters and Dumpling for the hens. Seems to make it easier for my wife.

I have named all of mine, though none look alike so it makes it easy to tell them apart. With the exception to my two pekin ducks which are Donald and Daisy, I just hope it is a pair

. But I have named every animal I have ever had and still remember all thier names, this includes all my breeder rabbits and birds over the years! When it comes to a persons name I usually forget it, but if they have a pet I always seem to remember it

. Even when I worked at my local petstore I named all the animals in there, including a few memorable fish. I guess I just really like to name critters.

A few of mine are named, but I only name the ones I can really pick out from the others.
I've 16 chickens (hence my name) and about 5 of them are named.

I name all of my "pet" chickens. Some of the ones that I can't tell apart, but they all still have names.
The meat birds on the other hand, all get named "Fatty". When I call, "Fatties!" when I bring out food, they come running.

Erm... I don't even have my chicks yet and the 3 I will eventually keep already have names, LOL! Feetsie, BB and Dot.

Disclaimer: MY family would like to forewarn you that all preemptive chicken names are subject to change without notice.

I finally got around to telling the kids we were getting chickens this weekend. It took about 10 minutes for the naming to begin. The naming party went from the two teen/preteen girls shouting names out randomly, to both girls walking around with great purpose toting clip boards with names in the hundreds written down list style, both of them carrying different colored highlighters so they could distinguish the names that got the best responses. Each child would prance up to one of us, clip board in one hand, highlighters in the other, and announce proudly, "Chicken naming poll time!". Then proceed to read off all the names they had written down at the speed of light.

As you all might know 2 preteen girls naming an animal who's most commonly known body part is a breast is a recipe for hilarity.

Some of the most notable names from the naming party were-

Boobie Lady
Big Boobie Lady
Big boobs
bubble butt
Booby McBoobington

The older teen then went on to list names for the whole flock-

Big Booby Brooders
Big Titty Committee
The Titty Trifecta

The oldest also became competitive and started to write names she thought would make her appear "super cool" and "mature", but they made absolutely no sense, here are some examples-

Hawaiian Sunset
Sandy beach
Blue Sky
etc.

In the end I went with the pg names listed above, LOL!

I named my first layers, but now I am starting to think about the chickens more as a food source so I only name the
1. Especially cute ones. I.e., Princess Layer

2. The bantams, since I breed them and they're way too small, fluffy and cute to eat.
3. the flock roosters.
