Just filled my incubator! due to hatch 5/1 anyone want to join me?

wow, just peeked in, the one egg just exploded, that baby wanted out bad !! I've never seen an egg hatch so fast, hahah.
Baby #1 is a bantam cochin(hen)/EE(roo) cross baby. looks mostly black, might have some brown in there, can't quite tell yet

I am in tears ;( One of my chicks cannot walk on its left leg. It just hobbles around and I feel so bad. This is the chick that I had helped out because it could not get out of the egg properly. What should I do? Why did I have to incubate eggs when I am pregnant. I am a complete hormonal mess. Need help!

Should I take the chick inside the house with me and take care of it from there?

I'm 30 weeks pregnant myself, and also helped 2 eggs out of the egg after 2 had died inside....trying not to let it get to me and instead eat some icecream.

I would take it inside and put it in a brooder by itself, get some nutrients in it and allow for it to rest. In my experience the other chicks would pick on it otherwise. See if you can somehow create a little splint for it's bad leg. How old is it? Do you have a picture maybe?

The chick is only 1.5 days old. I looked at her closely and it seems like it is her right let that is not working well. She has it somewhat stretched out on her right side and mainly uses her left leg to get around. The others are not picking on her at all, but I will bring her in tonight, with another chick to keep her company. I will splint it to see what can happen.

I NEED ICE CREAM!!!!!

I have some chocolate chip cookie dough and some cookies and cream icecream here...come on over. After a stressful hatch, I am ready for a giant philly cheesesteak sandwich and some onion rings....oh the cravings!

Update : helped the 2 out of their eggs and they seem to be doing well. moving around and peeping. Gave them a few drops of sav-a-chick electrolytes, hopefully that will help them along! fingers crossed!

From what you are telling me it sounds like my chicken Pearly. I believe she had a break but it’s up in her hips. Her leg kind of is stretched out. I splint never helped her much. You may just have to see how comfortable your chick seems to be and if it can survive with this condition should the splint not work. Good luck!

Wow, sounds like all of you had at least something to show for all the waiting, I, on the other hand, have nothing. I haven't been on and I know alot of you have already went to other threads but just wanted to let everyone know what happened. Henny Penny hatched one chick and then apparently something got her because she was MIA and the poor little chick was dead. The bad part was when I destroyed the nest...there were 12 more babies that looked perfectly healthy and just ready to hatch. Seeing everyone's babies is bittersweet. I am happy for all of you and the babies are just darling.

25/42 so far.

one that is trying to hatch has a crooked beak

the remaining 16 eggs are all pipping and zipping but 2, fingers crossed the rest make it out. I had to take out the fluffy chicks, as it was getting way to crowded in there and they were so fluffy, couldn't see nothing else through them, haha.

I have one that is in the bator, that I had to peel out, he was so shrinkwrapped. so, while I took out babies and removed empty egg shells , I removed him and cleaned him off and rid him of his shell.
I had the shower running, so here is hoping that they all fare okay

Out of 16 eggs...4 were yolkers, 2 quit very early, 3 were quitters at days 12, 13, and 14, or as near as i can guess from the eggtopsy. 7 movers going in to lock down...final total......1. We had 1 chick hatch after all the hype. BUT we have a chick. The kids did awesome and to see their eyes watching that chick fight his way out, well, thats why i do what i do. We have one little girl who has been having some stress in her personal life....breaks out in tears over nothing, shes being bounced from moms, to dads, to a foster homes, then back to moms, now moms pregnant again and i think theres some drug use involved. But thats only speculation. Our solo peeper hatched about 1030 monday and when she came to school at noon and seen that baby in there i seen a spark in her eyes i havent seen for monthes. She used to be such a happy little girl as well

She acctually got excited about somthing. Its been so long. I think Solo Peeper (pics to follow shortly) will have a long, happy, protected life within the folds of our flock. He is special just like her.
