Just filled my incubator! due to hatch 5/1 anyone want to join me?

I put 24 eggs in my little giant, kind of unsure of breed. I think the rooster is a RIR, and the hens are red sex links. This is my first try due to the fact of just getting my first chickens about 4 weeks ago. I would like to go pure-bred as soon as possible. Well, whenever I can get some eggs, after these hatch.

WOOHOO!! We just picked up 18 blue laced red wyandotte eggs. I just set them yesterday and they should be due May 2-5. This is on top of the 70 chicks we just purchased over the last month. Oh my...why are they so addicting!!????

Her is my set up. Home made, with 62 eggs picked up from South Carolina and Fla. 4 different breeders, 5 or 6 different breeds depending on how you count. Cuckoo Marans, Barred Rock, Polish, Ameracuanas, Blue/Black/Splash Rocks and shipped Australorps. The Australorp eggs are from pullets, pretty small, hope they make into nice birds, cause they are from a good line. Don't know why I was sent pullet eggs. I think the seller is new and did not know better. Most of the pullets I get will either go into the main flock or become future breeders. I hope to sell some eggs next year, and donate a lot to food a bank in our area. ........Sorry it took me so long to respond, been trying to figure out how to post a pic! ......stan

I'm incubating them for a friend of my brothers that shows them. His incuabtor crashed and killed 100 of his eggs, so he said he'd split the hatch with my brother (and ME!!) if I hatched them out for him... So we will see! I just hatched 22 out of 24 Americauna eggs, so here's hoping this goes just as well too

Is this where you get moral support for the next 19 or 20 days? I just had a hen decide to set. I have never got one to do it before so I am sooooo eggcited!! (Sorry couldn't resist) As near as I can figure she should be done on May 1st. She has a collection of her eggs plus some from two other hens. She is a barred rock and the other two are rir. Not sure if she will be able to stay because she is out in the open (our girls free range) and not in the best of places. We are supposed to get bad weather tommorrow. I don't even know how many is under her. I went to get eggs and there she sat not moving a muscle...I thought she was dead she was so still. I wasn't expecting her to be on there. I have always bought chicks at Orschelns so this is a new one to me. If there is anything I need to do to help her, somebody please fill me in. Thanks and good luck to all. Can't wait for baby pictures.
