This auction is for 5-7 eggs out of an Isa Brown hen (production red) and a splash Jersey Giant rooster. Momma Isa Brown is an awesome layer - she lays 28 days straight, then takes a day or two off, and does it all again. She also laid straight through winter (which, living in Michigan, is unsusual!).

The pictures in this auction are of one that I hatched 12 weeks ago - I threw the egg in with another hatch, just for fun....and was lucky to have gotten a pullet!! I just can't wait to see if she inherited her mother's laying ability! My hope is that the eggs will be quite large (like my Jersey Giant eggs) and that she's a prolific layer (like her mother). As she has matured, she's grown into such a pretty pullet, I thought what the heck - why don't I offer up a few of her eggs? So, this auction is "just for fun!"

I will try to get updated pics this week - she's changing more & more, and just keeps getting prettier!

These pics were taken of her as an 8 week old; she was hatched with large fowl Marans, and she is the largest pullet of the hatch at this point. She's going to be a big, gorgeous gal!

As with any hatching egg auction, I cannot guarantee hatchability once the eggs leave my farm; I do my very best to collect often and eggs are properly stored prior to shipping. I do not skimp on packaging - it's just not worth it.

UPDATE! I just received this PM from Muggsmagee regarding the first set of these eggs that I auctioned off:

I just wanted to let you know that today is day 12 on the first set of eggs you sent me. Tonight I finally candled them, and out of the 9 you sent me...ALL 9 are going strong!!! Woot-woot!!! I noticed that only two of them had a tiny bit of displaced air sac...just a smidge. Really not bad on shipped eggs!

Those eggs were collected for 8 days, shipped on the 9th day, were received on the 11th day...probably set on the 12th day, so I though at least a couple wouldn't develop (which we had chatted about, and buyer was fine with). So, this is really neat that they are all developing!​

On top of all 9 developing...they were originally set in a cheapo LG still-air incubator for the first 12 days!!! Only today (day 13) have they been placed in the Brinsea 380! These eggs are incredible. Fat, fat, rotund, oober large, almost spherical eggs.

I laid them in the same row as Sebastopol goose eggs I have in the Brinsea...that's how fat they are. If anyone wants some beautiful beefy layers...this would be a perfect addition to your flock! I've ordered 2 separate sets from Wynette. I'll post pics when the first batch hatches next week.

Secretly I am hoping that the pullets I hatch will lay spherical eggs like their momma, so I can use them for Christmas ornaments this next year!

Thanks for the plug! I, too, am hoping they will lay spherical eggs - while these eggs are good sized, the Jersey Giants' eggs are HUGE! More oblong, though (regular egg shape). It would ROCK if the combo of the two produced hens that lay spherical and HUGE eggs! Crossed fingers!

I have hatched everything, but until THIS year, I have had NO sucess with hatching the Isa crosses. the eggs are huge (all my isa eggs are) and the chicks never hatch. this year I opted to OPEN them as soon as they pipped. Gosh, totrllamas, I can't really speak to this to be honest. I've only hatched one, and she hatched extremely strongly/no extra fluid/no attached yolksac - nothing out of the ordinary. That is very odd, especially since you are doing dry hatch (which I feel is a super option for our altitude, BTW). Have you hatched other hens' eggs by your rooster? Stab in the dark, but my first thought is maybe it's just simply an issue with that particular cross?

I have 16 of these particular Isa crosses in my bator. The first 9 are all going strong...every single egg that Wynette shipped. The last 7 just went in the Brinsea so it is too early to candle. The first 9 will go into lockdown in a few more days. I'll let you know what happens come hatch time next week.
