Just got back from SkyWarn training... (Severe weather geek alert!)

I'm a weather spotter and I had the honor two years ago of reporting and photographing the first real twister to set down here in decades! It was less than two miles from my classroom and the pic was taken from the little porch on my portable. I love the weather, no matter what it's doing.

If you get a chance check out this file. It is of the Roanoke tornado from 2004. I saw it coming across the field, looked like it was headed straight for us. Luckily we ended up with minor damage, it actually took out Parsons Manufacturing about 1/2 miles down the road. Watched the whole thing happen. It was very scary!

Im a SkyWarn weather spotter here In San Diego but it's really boring.
Every once in a while we'll get pea sized hail and or a water spout.
