Just got chased by a fox!

Even in the "good old days" up here farm women had to be as tough as men. Even my great-grandmother was a force to be reckoned with!

I much prefer being outside working on the garden and lawn than inside cleaning or doing laundry.

I must agree with you. I have my girlie side on occasion but I would much rather shovel chicken poo than do the dishes. Although given a choice I would pay someone else to do all of it.

I think my family lived in Florida before the alligators.

Women had to work hard around the homestead. They did not refrain from doing certain jobs because it was "man's work". The men were usually travelling around selling moonshine to bring in extra cash for the family. Being a woman was never an acceptable excuse to not take out the trash, fix a car, or put up a fence in my family.

LMAO! I was working on a temp housing for the chickies all day yesterday and when I came home my boyfriend gave me a look.. like "why is the house still a mess when you supposedly had nothing to do all day" :p yeah I would also rather pick up chicken poo and get dirty than have to do the laundry, but alas... it must be done... *starts folding laundry* my guy is great but he's always had a suburban life and never experienced raising any sort of "exotic" animal :p I consider chickens "exotic" because not too many people have them hhaahah

That's funny, that's usually the look I give my husband when he's been home with our daughter all day and nothing has been cleaned! Apparently, watching her is a full time job and he can't do housework too- but when I'm home with her on the weekend I get cleaning and gardening done, in addition to watching her.

You shouldn't have much to worry about from a 30 lb fox as it would be so obese that it couldn't move. High ends for most N. American red foxes is closer to 20 lbs--and that is probably a well fed male. They tend to look bigger than they really are. If your 12 lb cat stood and fought it probably would have been able to defend itself.

I saw a film on Utube where a cat was on the back porch of a home in Quebec Canada and a bear came into the back yard - it smelled the garbage bag on the porch and started up the steps to get the garbage - well the cat got all humched up and went at the bear - the bear actually backed up - finally the bear very humblely and slowly grab the garbage bag and ran away - that such was a brave cat - I guess it felt stronger since in was on it's own turf -

He must be a "cousin" to a bold coyote we have that passes thru our pasture around 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. daily--also a brazen fellow. I can relate to your case of nerves. Connie

Agreed. I would definitely call your local animal control and report the situation. Then, I would but a shotgun. Go to a used gun store and get yourself a little .410 pump. It is low recoil but packs plenty of punch as a varmint gun.

Even with kits, a fox should never advance against you like that.
