Just got my e-mail from Holderreads! 6 week update, bottom pg.8

Oooh, how fun! Did she choose a specific breed, or go with the Exhibition Assortment? If it's the assortment, you'll have to post which different breeds/varieties she ends up with. I know I've already said it, but I LOVE cute, fuzzy surprises!

She pain stakingly chose her order over and over and over! Cant say I blame her, I would do the same thing. I got to have a slight say in the matter since I pay the feed bill! She ordered 2 Australian spotted, 4 indian runners (2 penciled and 2 fawn and white), 2 silky ducks, 2 Khaki Campbell. I think there might be two more but I cant remember!

Well folks, the first shipments of ducklings from Holderreads should start going out today and tomorrow!

This week is one of my alternate dates - so I'm sort of hoping for a call tonight or tomorrow, telling me they're on their way!

Otherwise - next Monday/Tuesday is the planned date that mine are supposed to be sent!

They are SO nice to work with and talk to!! They even let me pay through paypal since I offered to pay the sellers fees for them

I didn't want to waste time having to mail a MO all the way out there!

My first pair of silkies were shipped back in January - it was frigid - I was worried but they arrived safely

The second pair I just got. They were shipped out and of course it was pretty warm this time, so I was again worried for different reasons... Again they arrived safely and in excellent health!! If I had room for more waterfowl, I absolutely would not order from anyone other than Holderreads

Can't wait to see pics of the babies!!!!

Anybody else had a call yet?? I'm on pins and needles. I want that call!!!

Funny thing--I called the post office to ask them to hold the ducks instead of delivering (last year they delivered, and the ducks were in rough shape when they got here--not from Holderread's though). The guy who answered the phone said, "Oh, you're getting birds! If you need geese, I've got some. They're locally raised!" So we got to talking and it turns out he raises Embden geese right here in Charlotte and his stock is originally out of Holderread.

Anyway--when are they going to call? I want that call!!

No call yet - or e-mail, for that matter.

Since this is one of my alternate dates, I'm guessing that if I do get them this week, it will be tomorrow - once all the other orders have been filled and they know what they have left to fill my assortment.

I'm looking forward to seeing pictures of your ducklings though! I actually thought of you first when I got up and looked at the calender this morning, before I realized that I could possibly be getting my birds this week too!

Last year, I completely missed my call from Sandhill Preservation Center. It was two months beyond the latest hatch date I'd requested, and I'd been looking for a refund check every day in the mail! I got on the computer one morning and I had an e-mail from the night before telling me my birds had shipped! You can't even imagine the mad frenzy I was in trying to get everything ready for them!

Thanks, Annarie. Still no call or email yet, but it's just 5 pm there now, so maybe they fill all the orders and then go make the calls/send the emails. That's so sweet that you thought of me first!

Thanks. I hope you get yours sent this week too, but I will most certainly want pictures as soon as yours arrive. And trust me, as soon as mine arrive I'll be posting pics right here!!

My own test hatching batch in the incubator is due this weekend. It's only two, so there's a fair chance of a singleton hatchling. I'm very hopeful if that happens that I can combine it with the Holderread babies so it won't be lonely. We'll see. Of course, best case is that both hatch and I can still combine them with the Holderreads.

Okay........ back to finding things to do to take my mind off the fact that I am waiting on my call!!

I never knew waiting for ducklings could be this hard. I just finnished scrubbing the bathtub I am using for a brooder and everytime the phone rings I hope it's them on the other end. My babies are suppost to ship this week with the next two weeks as alternates. I hope I don't have to wait another week!

Good luck everyone!
