I posted a question some time back about Ga NPIP certification and I got minimal feedback so I wanted to post so others could know what is involved.
First I contacted the Ga Poultry Lab via the NPIP APHIS website.
The field tester contacted me by phone and set up a time and date to do the testing.
The tester arrived on time for the appointment was very courtious and easy to work with. By the way there is only two bleeders in the state of Ga.
They blood tested each chicken over four months old for pullorum by pricking a blood vessel under the wing.
I also had them spot test for Avine Flu about one third of the birds which is their standard.
It took about two hours to test the 130 birds. I caught the birds and they done the testing.
The tester only goes to one farm a day and after each test location they wash and disinfect the truck and all the equipment.
It cost $8.00 for the NPIP Membership
$0.25 for each bird pullorum tested
$1.00 for each bird Avine Flu Tested
They tested last Friday morning and I recieved my certificate today Tuesday.
The certification is good for one year.
Hopefully I didn't leave any thing out and this will be a help to someone.
I forgot they also place a Ga NPIP legband on each bird tested.
